have you removed the bleder screw and full the coolant until it somes out of the bleder hole? Thats how its done. Jack the front of the car up while your filling the car. There is a weep hole on the thermostat that allows air to pass through. With the car jacket up will allow the air to come out easier.

Running clutch fan? The clutch may have gone bad. Perform a leak down test and see if it might be a headgasket. Other then that, bleed the system using the bleeder screw if you have not done so.

I had the same exact issue when i swapped mine. I ran dish sop through it fora bit to clean the debry out of te jackets. Then I used a vacum pump to fill the system. Basicly it installs on your radiator and youhook it to a Compressor it creats a vacum and you drop the hose in coolant and it sucks the coolant into the block. Its the only way i could get allof the air out of my new block. and i yet to get any heat. But it stopped overheating on me.
