Default 240 motor choice lets share experience

I think drag racing and drifters have different opinion but.

What kind of motor you've had in your 240?

Which motor do you recomend for the 240?

Lets post good/bad happenings with your motor.

Good KA never die.
CA18DET is not as powerful as SR, but its decent & cheaper. easyer to work on
SR got many available performance parts. Very reliable if you don't do crazy things.

I ever blow up nissan motor. The only motor I blew up is 4ag.

I'd go with the blacktop s13-sr , it has the revised 54C parts , and the high port head (for power building potential). The CA18DET , does look like it frees up more space inside the engine compartment and seems to be easier to work on but has less aftermarket support. Their are those that say it is more reliable then the SR , and less sensitive(more tolerant to abuse) then the SR's are (cannot verify that though). If the KA24DE had better pistons from the factory it would definetely be a excellent choice.

I would say ka-t I love its torque and head design. forged pistons and shotpeened rods and I would have the best of all worlds. I also own a redtop sr in my s14 so I am not biased just my opinion.

I think any SR is great for the 240 platform. Its a shame they didnt come stock over here. Even for a daily driver I would want an SR over a KA anyday.

haha, I wanna say KA-T but damn what a bunch of headaches. I think a bolt on kit and then directly to Scott for tuning would make things a lot better but you dont learn anything like that. haha.

I've had both ka and sr and out of the two i'd stick with the sr. daily driven got better gas millege than the ka did, better power band, and can make more power without having to tear the block apart. ofcourse i have also blown both up and only had to spend $350 on tha ka compaired to $2500 on the sr
