maxima pad install
Anyone know a good shop to get some pads installed and rotors resurfaced. I already have the pads.

Bro, doing the pads is a piece of cake. For the front just remove the wheel, and look for 2 bolts on the back side of the hub assembley. Take those out and off come the caliper. There is one clip that holds the brake pads on that you nee to remove and then you can swap out the pads. Once you have the caliper off you can just slide the rotor off. You may need a rubber hammer os something like it to gently jar it loose so you can pull it of the hub. Once you do that take it down to a shop to get turned for less than 10 bucks a rotor. I think some of the DIY auto parts stores can turn the rotors for you.
I believe its the same process to do the rears as well. If you absolutely must have someone else do them, then take it to your local brake place and hope they dont eff of the job. Its VERY hard to do on a Maxima, but i've seen them flub it up before.

The rear calipers have the retarded screw-in pistons, like the 240sx. They are a pain in the ass. Basically instead of pressing the piston back in, you have to press and screw it in with small needle nose pliers. I just changed the brakes on my mom's 01 GLE a few months back.

that's odd, i wonder why they would have made that kind of change from the 4th gen to the 5th gen? If it ain't broke don't fix it theory seems to apply in this case. Well, the good thing is that "usually" you can get away with changing out the rears every other time you do the front.
