i start up the car and it makes this low pitch whning noise, and it gets louder if i turn the steering wheel when idling. also when driving as the rpms rise so does the whine, kinda sounds like a really really small s/c i have no idea what this could be...any ideas before i take it in for a diagnostic? also after the car drives for awhile the whine goes away, but comes back if i shut if off then back on.

 

something to do with your power steering pulley or something, id guess. My sr used to do something similar but i "toyed" with it and i got it to stop...just my guess since it gets louder when it becomes active...

 

I was going to say power steering as well. If your electronics seem to be messing up in any way i would check the alternator too.

 

the electronics seem to be fine. is this something that needs to be adressed right away or can it wait?

 

If the leak is at the pump you need to fix it ASAP. Fluid will drip on the alt and will destroy it. If it's anywhere else your only problem will be no P/S or drips on your driveway. Check the fluid level and see if there is a problem.
