Default bad thermostat?

ok was riding around earlier and my temp gauge is acting up,,the car is not overheating> the needle will bounce around a between half way and cold , i dont think headgasket is a problem as too i dont hear any hissing , no bubbling of coolant and all the other signs of blown HG* ...i hope this is all it is...ohh plus i put my hand on the upper radiator hose and i can squeeze it all the way , like nothing flowing thru the damn thing, and the lower one almost looks like its getting bigger, not real fast or anything but something to watch...let me know guys....

Check for the obvious...coolant, leaks, wiring/plug to temp sensor. It may have come loose or corroded. I think the general rule for the hoses is, if your have the car running and the upper radiator hose is hot and the lower radiator hose is cold to the touch, then you have a problem. I

since you have check obvious, sounds like thermo is suspect. when pinching top hose, you should feel that you are restriciting flow. if bad thermo, then you won't feel like you are restricting flow.

replace thermo, bleed, bleed, bleed and all should be good.

Yes, on the bottom. I stripped that one and had to re-thread it. Be careful.
