Default Return of the crankwalk

Well after about 9 months and a few thousand miles the evo 1 has crankwalked again.
I can move the crank in and out a good 1/4 inch.
I realy hate 7 bolts right now.

I almost hate to respond cause its the most mistunderstood subject on the net.

there are no cases of the factory built engine walking in less than 50k miles. most are much higher miles. there are plenty of threads of newly built engines walking in a few thousand miles. doesnt take a brain to figure out maybe the mechanic was at fault.

the simple culprit has a simple cure. 7 bolt cranks (including evo8/9) are not surface hardened from the factory. they spin bearings easily, and they crankwalk easily. I havent built a 7 bolt block in 7 years now without a nitrided crank. nitrided 7 bolts cranks are just as durable as 6 bolts.

any body that wants to argue about it will not get an arguemnet from me. I dont argue with stupid. so if you want to be stupid have at it.
