Just because the tranny has to be dropped for the tob to be changed doesn't mean "hey guys lets pull apart a recently rebuilt tranny?!" and void any warrenty available, then lets drive it and still have some more fuck ups! Who's to say you didn't damage it more?

Like jerry posted alot of assumption was done with this rebuild. That's kind of like when reading the terms and conditions when your signing a contract.

Actually Im the type of person that like to make sure i got what i paid for. Thats part of the "hey lets take this apart"
Its just like the talon I just purchased. Its was claimed to have a built motor but there was no proof.
So I took the oil pan down and inspected the bottom end to make sure I got what I paid for and didnt get hosed.
The trans had 90 miles on it . I drove 80 to work and back. so the 5 times reverse was engaged It did the damage in the first picture. Hardly a drive to damage it some more.

 

Then build your own transmission dude...
if you did that shit to ANY tranny shop and tore down the tranny they just rebuilt yourself to diagnose the issue and bad mouth there work, they wouldn't warranty your shit.

I didn't ask for him to warranty the work . I dont want him touching it. If you want to have him do work for you , thats great, like I mentioned multiple times in this thread this was to show what he does. Not for me to get anything back.

I bought the Black Talon that JR sold to Jerry. Was told that the drivetrain was fine... Also, that the tires had a month of use left of use in them.

The tires were all showing cords, so it barely made it to the garage from the trailer.

Back to the car, the odometer showed 113k on it. Well according to the title that I found in the car, it had over 200k........... After installing the AWD parts into my Spyder we found that the trans is shot. Slips 1-2, 2-3 so bad that I have to get off the throttle to let it shift. This is at 1/3rd to 2/3 throttle, 7-10lb of boost. Reverse is catching and releasing. So something is fucked... Also, found that it has a welded center diff. A very crappy job at that. If it was 'driven' by both JR and Jerry this would have been known. No one told me. After said and done. I only kept the gas tank, trans, t-case, rear end out of the swap chassis. The rest was trash that could not be reused.

The part that makes me add this to this thread is the fact that Jerry asked if I could drive the car over there so he could look at the issues with me. I have no issue with that, had no anger about the Talon's shortcomings that I was not told about. I got screwed, and put it behind me. I called him to see if he would be able around when I came over and just hung up after I told him it was me. I wasn't complaining to about him, wanting any money back. Just wanted some help.

Also, JR thanks for attempting to swipe the auto trans out from under me.... Thats pretty cute.

Which apparently you didn't do, his method of building transmissions is tried and true. He's not treating your car any different then any other.
You may as well take it for what it's worth. From what it sounds the gearset you had originally was worse off then what he put back into your transmission. And since he quoted you one price assuming what you had would be fine for the job he threw in something better then what was originally into it without charging you extra.
Sounds like we have a winner.

 

The original quote was 1200.. then it went to 1500 after he had to put the NEW gearset in .
I did pay extra for the gearset.
He also mentioned this earlier in the thread. So the concern of paying extre for something new and receiving a damaged one instead.
You can hold your own opinion to that but common sense states , you pay for something new its not supposed to have flaws..
Its the same as the new car scenario I posted earlier.

 

I dont understand this thread. A customer of Jerrys paid $1500 for a tranny job that should of been built to great levels. Every business makes mistakes and most people would agree and fix there mistake. nobody is perfect and parts arent perfect. But if i paid someone $1500 to rebuild a tranny it better get done right. What should of happen here, is that the tranny should of been brought back to jerry and tell him that something is wrong can you please fix it. of course the customer is pissed i would be too. but if the problem gets fixed then everything should be fine. free of charge since you just laid $1500 bucks on a built tranny. I think you guys should man up act like adults and fix the situation in a friendly matter. Rather then messege back and forth that will get NOWHERE! lol I mean cmon now, a tranny doesnt take a shit within 90miles. im sure if you asked jerry to recheck it he would of. I have went to Jerry several times always been good to me and everyone else that i knew but mistakes happen. and if a mistake occurs just fix it and get it done right. The tranny that was rebuilt never had a problem with 3,4,5,r, gears they were mint, 1st and 2nd were fucked. so instead of yelling at each other for days and days Jerry should fix whats wrong and get orlando on his way. give him what he paid for. Jerry was looking for a auto car to convert his EVO to auto, with that in mind a buddy of mines had a 98 talon auto without tittle he wanted to sell. I called Jerry and told him about it, Jerry came test drove the car n bought it. The car was never mines I was just selling it for a friend. I also drove the car and the tranny shifted fine to me. Don't involve me in a deal that I had nothing to do with.I sold my friends car to Jerry. I didn't sell it to u.
