Default Evo8 help!!!!

hello tamparacing experts!, i need a little help with my evo8. i was boosing 23psi a while ago, and now for some reason it doesnt go past 15psi. besides boost leak, what else could possibly causing this? i have a mbc but no matter how much i turn up the boost, it wont go past 15 psi. i think im running on stock wastegate pressure, if anybody know how to fix the problem, please help me out!!! thanks alot

had this problem with my mbc. if you have a cheap one, sometimes the spring gets stuck inside and it stays at 10-15 psi no matter which way i turn the knob. take it apart and put it back together, and then set the boost accordingly. garuntee thats your problem.

I assume you are on a stock turbo/wastegate? No matter what spring is in the Hallman, it will be able to max out the turbo if cranked all the way down. If cleaning out the boost controller doesn't fix the problem, you could also check to make sure the wastegate arm didn't somehow come off of the flapper arm and I would also check the turbo for shaft play.

If your unable to come up with a solution, you are more then welcome to bring it by Judge Racing and we can get your car sorted out for you.

We are located in Spring Hill. It is a personal location where we have built my personal (1 of 4 in the world) 9 second stock block Evo.

thanks Ryu, can you give me the address of your shop? yeah i did a pull after work today and still noting past 15psi. i have to find out whats the problem is, its driving me crazy. is it possible that my bov is leaking? i have a greddy rs and its recirculated. i took it apart and check to make sure the diaphram is in good shape and everything is the way it should be. i'll do a leak test and check the turbo before i bring it to you.

Go with your first hunch, I learned long ago that boost leaks can frustrate you like no other. Check your vacuum lines also and zip-tie them all. Good luck.

thanks Ryu, i'll probably stop by sometime next week. i just checked the turbo and it seems pretty good. slightly side to side movement but no in and out movement. i think slight side to side movement is normal since its MHI turbo. so i'll do a leak check on Sunday to see if i can find anything. if anyone else can think of anything, please chime in!! thanks
