Its no different than any other car out there.
There are cheap parts that are pot luck as to if they will last 100 miles, and there are good quality parts that cost more but will last a long time.

Ive got the exact same turbo on my car, from the same company, and its been smooth sailing so far. Over 20,000 miles on it and no shaft play or oil burning, just watch out for the wastegate, mines not working anymore so i have to work around it . Some people are very opinionated when it comes to Ebay turbos, and i can understand why after hearing some of the horror stories. Just make sure you fill the center section with oil before you fire it up for the first time, and disconnect the coil and let the motor turn over for a little while to get the turbo primed with oil.

Good luck then. Because a 1g with a just a turbo upgrade (16g) is not even worth more then 2k unless you have restored the exterior and have a fresh new paint job and the interior is in great shape and the motor has either low mileage or is rebuilt and a few other things inbetween. I think you need to do some research on what these cars are worth before thinking you'll get more then 2k for one with just a turbo upgrade. Like I stated these cars are money pits you can ditch out 10k on them and you'll never get it back. Reason why most that are nicely built eventually get parted out. Again good luck there's a difference between whats low for you and how much a car is really worth. If you paid 3k-4k for the car to begin with and it was stock then you got suckered in. I paid for my old 1g TSI 3k (stock form) 3yrs ago... cars depreciate and then it wasn't even worth that much but I wanted one so I settled for it then.

Good luck.

Hard to say what the cars worth with out seeing good pictures and a list of whats done and what works.
1g`s bring no money and automatics are the worst for resale because no one wants them.
You may want to learn to like the car.

i didnt pay no where near 4000k! lol i dont want that much for it! but im just saying, 2000k, is a little low, Ill give a list of everything ive done, and i dont have any pics, the car it self is in good shape, interior is awsome!!!! and the exterior is good, paint isnt faded just a a couple of dents, nothing big.

Everything works, AC needs charging.

As for things done to it,

brake pads
tires
head rebuilt
full tune up
car and engine only 97k miles
fully rebuilt tranny
new turbo
new exhaust manifold
new fuel pump
all new belts, and timing belt
freshly rebuilt TCM (transmission computer)

im starting to think i might have to learn how to love the car, lol
maybe ill put a sign on it and just drive it untill i love it or get a good offer, which ever comes first, honestly im scared something else is going to go wrong on me.

something else will go wrong, but I learned that this is part of the excitement of owning DSM. My car has been great for the past year but every now and again it will throw a small obsticle my way, when it does, since this is my only form of transportation, I must quickly diagnose and fix the problem. and after I do I get a great sense of accomplishment and I love the car all over again.

ususally when something goes wrong it's something small, stupid, and alot of times cheap. last week i had a massive oil leak, turns out it was a crush washer on the turbo feed, a $.50 part
