Default stupid question... RWD DSM?

I thought at one time some people were converting there AWD DSM's to RWD for the track. Is this easily done, without mounting the motor longways?

I might not like jdm license plates but I have video's of a gvr4 over seas that was converted to real rear drive and it was done with the stock trans. and pretty easily. I'll find a picture of it later.

Weld the center diff then remove the front axels and just put the axels cups back in the tranny to keep the fluid from leaking out.
You will then be RWD but i wouldnt try any hard launchs.

I'd look into a 35/65 torque-split center diff. That will give the car a much more oversteer-biased/rwd handling characteristic while still retaining benefits of AWD. I remember reading that somebody had one installed in their car on the DSM-AutoX Yahoo group, you could search there to check it out.

that might work...just thinking of ideas right now....

thoughts: convert my cressida into a drifter or buy awd DSM and convert for drifting. Really don't want a 240 or ae86.

I know this is a far fetched idea, but why not put an engine in the rear?

Maybe something like 100 horses up front and a 200 horse motor out back. That could be some fun. Axis burnouts would be cake and look hella cool too.

Depends on the application. The fastest drag dsm/4g63's are rwd...
