New FD owner here
Class we have a genius. Dr.Felix wankle read the book on how to make torque and built a rotary. Haha yea rite. Stop and admit it. Your car has very little torque. Chevrolet tried using the rotary in early times and the project never worked. WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because the expense was way to much and the cost of parts were going to be way to much. Point made. Oh and they wanted a car with real power...

have you been keeping up with australia and the rotary news. I bet you havent. They are the worlds most loving/racing rotary enthusiasts. However they are also doing mostly swaps over. Again makes you think

i mean hey its your thing to swap recipricating engines into rx's, but dont come in here and try to convince a new rotary owner to swap it when you dont fully understand what youre talking about. youre right though, the turbo rotaries never do last long. and the secondary turbos go out on the 13brew quite frequently. but cmon dude, the recipricating engine is not god. its not like they are so much more reliable. they do last a little longer, but they have a LOT more that can go wrong.
and the recipricating engine has been around alot longer than the rotary, so there has been time to perfect it.

the reason why I came on here and other posts to convince people to swap the motor is to save money and get true speed. Im not trying to be a jackass but anytime someone even mentions the word swap in the same sentence as rotay,wankle,rx7 or anything they freak the fuck out

yes mazda does own them. So my question still remains the same. If they are such good motors why aernt they everywhere. One dealer doesnt just own a piston engine. Almost all manufactures own piston products that they sell. Ok mazda did win the 24 hour lemans once. Still they never made such a sports car so bad ass. Again it comes down to cost, parts, reliability and try finding a true blooded american who wants to work on a rotary. its just hard to do

i see your arguement and you do have some good points, but the rotary does have its advantages. for intance, the FIA banned the 26b rotary from the le mans series because of its power to wieght ratio. the 2.6L was classed the same as the 4.7L v8s and so on. and soley because of the wieght advantages, they said no deal.
and it was n/a. and the same goes for the 7 rotor, and the 13j.

alot of car companies like to do that. its just like the ls7 and ls9. why do they only come in only one car (iirc)? and your right, people open them and go "OMG WTF HOW DO I WORK ON THIS THING!?!" but theyre not that much more difficult then the recipricating engine to work on. its a matter of knowing wtf you are doing.

Mainly because a swap into a Fc is about 10k, motor included. That includes a rebuild but nothing aftermarket minus the stand alone. That's a custom job that requires nothing but time.... Know about 4 guys with a 20b tho. Cars are NOT to be messed with....
