People always talk SHIT about rotary motors cause they don't know how to make them dependable. It is all in the builder/tuner of the car. If you take it to someone that knows it will last forever, cut corners and be cheap and you will hate it.
I currently have 3 Rotaries and I drive the piss shit out of them with NO issues...

P.S... I know a few people that have owned LS1 Vettes and hated them... Spent more time in the shop then he drove it..sold that piece of shit after the last dealer visit..

Thats the funniest shit ive ever heard. Rotary lasting forever..................lollololololololololololo lololol. Ls1 all the way. Oh and the rotarys that do manage to get over 100,ooo miles without a re-build is mostly non-turbo models. You can even go on autotrader and almost 70% of all 3rd gen rx7's have re-built motors. Oh let me guess they all took thier rx7's to dealers/shops that dont know what they are doing. NOT! Ive had 7 friends with 3rd gen fd's and All have had issues except for allen whos was built by scott but it was a matter of time before that car went boom. Oh and just a fyi that car was converted to a v8. You will also get double the money for a v8 rx7. Period!!!!!! Damn hatters.

so drive it and in a few months when the bills from the keeping up with it comes in, remove the 13btt and do a v8 swap. trust me itll save you money in the long run.
Remember this is florida and always and I mean always look at your temp gauge. The 3rd gen rx7 has a reputation to overheat. There is many of things you can do to get it to run a little cooler however drive the dog piss out of it, have fun with it, blow up the motor [because it will happen] and again swap that bad boy. And anybody that tells you its going to last a long time as long as you take care of it is completely full of shit. The non-turbo rx7's seem to get up thier in milage however not the turbo models. Good luck and always stay close to home. Youll thank me later for this

op: i HIGHLY reccomend getting the premix tank additive, the oil injectors are a pain in the ass to check and it would just be another safty precaution. you can get the premix on mazdatrix.com

also keep in mind if you want a car with torque do the swap. or you can take it to a rican shop in the area and have them port the car to make any kind of power but youll still have to deal with the loud noise, shitty idle, rev to 8-10k before launch and hope the bitch starts. just not worth it. However its your car and im trying to save you money in the long run and get more value and respect if you do a swap. not to many loud ass starlets or datsuns make it down a quarter mile but the v8's make every pass

And the comment about checking your oil. Stop and think about that dumb ass. If the car had a good engine you wouldnt have to pull over on a date and tell you girl to chill while your in you 80's sports car checking the oil. What cars do that???? oh I no. Hmmm rx7's. yea thats something i really want to be scared about all the time. I used to be just like you. I was a big boy on the net telling people what kind of a idiot they were to ever even think about putting a swap in a rx7. Than i rode in a ls1 fd and it was game over. Peace

the 12a has 101hp with 107 ftlbs of torque and the 20b has 300hp with 300 ft lbs of torque.
