Also googlemeh if you wanna talk shit, show up somewhere, I will even let you pick? I'm tired of this trash talking, if you got something to say then say it to my f*****g face! All i was doing was looking for help, not get ridiculed for every question i might have. and you own a honda? so why the hell would i care what you think?

jpatanio, I dont really have a set figure to spend on the car? Just until i guess i am happy with it but if i had to guess i am probably looking at 7-10 k easy when all is said and done if not more?
Then you picked the wrong car...

Do you really want an rx-8 to beat on with out prior knowledge of rotaries. I thinking your swimming in the deep end...

Ego is guiding you..not common sense..don't take that the wrong way but its obvious. Why don't you look @ the Mazdaspeed protege?

Because i bought an rx8? and sorry to tell you i have no plans on BEATING on my car anytime. I think there is a difference between driving a car to its capability and beating/ragging on a car!

See this is where your off base...

want an all around street performing car, and maybe the occasional track day here and there.
This is beating your car...I don't care how you look at it. Manufacturers design cars with the intent that the car will be driven moderately...Once you start pushing the car...your beating it...your wearing down the car progressively faster then intent...and thousands of kids or adults like you get an rx7 or rx8 and start modding with out any proper knowledge and kill the engine.. Half the rx7's sitting in a scarp yard could be on the road if they didn't improperly tuned the car...but by all mean try to rule over the people who know about rotaries

I guess I'm going to start with the basics, intake, pulleys, and a full exhaust (not just cat back)
This right here is the recipe for popping a rotary.

By all means go ahead and do what you like...lean the fuck out of it...cause let me tell you how many times you can detonate a rotary.

Once...
One ping

If your lucky many be twice.

^ very well spoken. O.P. listen to what everyone has to say, even if you don't particularly like their tone. There is only two ways this can go, you can listen to those who don't know anything about a rotary or you can listen to the die hard enthusiasts on here. Most of the enthusiasts will be a bit harsh in their sentence structures, but rest assured it is only to sway you from taking the wrong path. Either way, take heed to their knowledge. Most people learn from their own mistakes and go on to teach what they've encountered.

I'm not sure where some of this is coming from... With an exhaust and what not will cause him to blow up his motor?? If he beats on the car will fail?

What are you guys talking about? I am questioning the knowledge you have of rotaries and the RX8. I think a few of you are over reacting. There are a few benefits that the RX8 has over all other rotaries and that is 100,000 mile warranty on the entire drive train. Now with this knowledge I would hesitate on boosting the car but na it should hold together fine.

You want to use aftermarket underdrive pulleys? I have to agree with the other guys. I'm not too sure about rotaries. With a cylinder/piston motor using different underdrive pulleys will throw off engine harmonics and produce extra wear on main/rod bearings. Thus reducing overall engine life and reliability. I suggest you learning more about the car. Who would you rather trust? People on the internet who you have no clue about what their intentions may be? or Yourself after you get information and make yourself smarter in the process. Additionally if you really want to learn about your car. Visit these sites.

Mazda RX-8 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hopefully this helps you. I know the mazda forum in TR isnt really too active, so this rx8 specific forum might be useful to you. Don't mind the aholes here as there are aholes everywhere. Specially in Tampa. If you need any more help or advice let me know PM me or just write another comment. Im sure there will be some users here willing to help you as well. On another note

HOPE EVERYONE HAD A HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!

Your right..I have limited knowledge on the rx-8.
I dont even own an rx8.

If you feel he can have a full blow thru system with no problems..than so be it.

Its not like that but after doing my fair share of events and knowing others that do the same is the knowledge I speak from. The rotary is obviously not a bullet proof 2jz but the renesis will run well and longer if you run them. The typical problem with the renesis is carbon build up which is commonly seen when it comes from an auto or someone who does not rev it.

I just think its funny that people think you can just put on a full intake and open end exhaust system and think that's just fine. But frankly I don't care anymore..he can do what ever he wants with his car...
