Rx8 Help!
You have to look how your first 2 posts were worded, they made absolutely no sense. If you want to learn rotary, that will not be a problem, but basically you started out all wrong.
Now with that being said, it is assumed that you are set on the bodystyle of the RX-8. If it were me, I would wait to modify it until you get a good comfortable feel for the car. Changing little things can change the whole outlook of the car.
As a group we could set you on the right track if we had a clear vision on what you want the car to be when you are done, and what you are starting off with now.
The aftermarket has not caught up with this car, as this is a whole new drivetrain that folks are still learning what can and cannot be done. I would give it a few more years and see what comes out before spending a bunch of cash on a kit that may not do what you want it to do.

Well i have figured out my first goal is to shut up a co-worker of mine with a stock g35! He thinks he has the absolute king of all cars and well I'm getting sick of hearing about it. I guess I'm going to start with the basics, intake, pulleys, and a full exhaust (not just cat back). Also if anyone has any personal info about the cat backs i would like to get some info about the diff. brands. I have heard most cat backs just change the tone for the most part? and you don't see to much power gain?

Now were talking. There are a lot of free mods you can do as well. The less weight in the car, the better off you will be as well. Here is something to think about. If you have full coverage, and a towing option, then there is no reason to carry a spare, or jack etc. Look at lighter wheels/tires as well, the less rotational mass you need to turn, the more power you have in the engine. A smaller battery, like a Hawker Genesis can drop 10 lbs in itself.
Cat backs are exactly that, from the cat back, they will change the tone, but yes you can free up a few hp with them. The problem you get into when removing a cat on an OBD II compliant vehicle is that the computer will know it is missing, and set the check engine light unless you put in a fooling system. This is a unit that plugs into where the secondary O2 sensor is located and sends a false signal to the computer to fool it into thinking that it is working. Removing a Cat is a federal offense, so do not expect any muffler shops to be willing to do this for you.
Be carefull with some of the aftermarket air filters, most are covered in an oil, and with a MAF sensor, they can cause some problems with the fine wires in there and burn them out.

As a RX8 owner who has a pretty moded na car... the first question I would like to ask is; what is the purpose of the build? do you plan on auto x, road coursing, or street driving? How much would you like to spend? answer those questions and I will provide you with more information than you want.
