first off, checking compression while the engine is running is a proven method of diagnostics.... many things in a motor change under load.
heres a good example... youve got a weak headbolt on a boosted car. compression testing the motor at idle may show decent compression numbers, while when its got load on it, it may be stretching the bolt and allowing the HG to leak.
you guys are all so gung ho to hate but experience can come from listening not just doing... and at my age... 24.... i'm gonna go ahead and listen.

I was way past a normal compression check, my ECU does not stop me from hitting 300mph my HP stops it way before then (near 155-160).
I checked everything I could possibly check in my driveway, the oil was speard out over the rear of the engine and I could not tell where it came from, how fast it was leaking or if one of the recirculating breathers from the heads came off at one point in time and made a mess. So after cleaning it up and looking it over for a week I went out to play. While playing I got wooped up on by a 4cyl and I felt I should have been more powerful, So I thought I either have a streatched bolt or I am just chasing ghosts and my car really is slow. and that is when I did the last possible thing I could do to show me if I had a problem or not (without tearing the motor apart for a "maybe")
Acually my ECU would stop the car at 180 (Diablo tuner) but I can't get anywhere near 180 so it might as well be 300. I was just making a point.
And for the record I never said I thought I lost a cylinder, I knew I didn't because I allready checked. I was just at the end of looking into a possible problem.
idk but when u find out u let me know ok????i wanna run it
