You thanked him but he in no way justified your top speed run nor gave you credit for thinking to do such a thing.

His entire post was related to doing a compression check while the engine was running.

So this good example is apparently a car that makes enough boost free revving to lift a head bolt. How many cars make that much boost in neutral?

And just because the motor is running DOES NOT mean it has a load against it.

In reality one of the worst things you can do is rev your engine up with out a load against it.

Hell even GM has figured that out and implemented a measure to keep cars from free revving very high in an attempt to cull things of this nature.

Now if you want to be serious about loading the engine then you need to take your car to a dyno and do testing while the engine is actually loaded.

do you guys want to read one my my textbooks on engine performance and mechanical repair? b/c i take it you know that the volumetric efficency and compression is going to be lower with the engine running. an engine is mechanical not mysterious, if theres something wrong in the valve train its going to be evident and any stage and load of the engine. the only thing your going to do by checking the compression while running the engine is wet wash that cylinder and contaminate the oil, and cause unneaded drag on the motor.

oh and arron my sr made 12lbs of boost free revving. i dont recomend free revving a motor though, causes unneaded stress and strain on a motor
