I have a 95 del sol si. It's been getting harder to start recently. It started to do this when it started to get cold out. I thought it was a bad battery at first. Just yesterday, the CEL came on. I haven't coded it yet. I think it needs a tune-up. I've been very busy and my friend borrows my car to go to work, so I haven't had a chance to check it out. Any ideas. The previous owner doesn't know when it was last tuned, but the distributor cap looks new and the belts are in good condition, so I don't know without digging into the engine.

 

is it just like hesitating to start, like it does nothing then cranks over? or it cranks and takes a second to turn over?

 

Cranks. then turns after a little. BUUUUUT... I was just driving home and ran over a piece of brick. I thought it was trash. It wasn't Car immediately shut off and now it wont start at all. It just cranks. Won't turn.

 

Of course it's 2am so I can't do much. I know my car's not starting now because of the fuel pump (i just checked to see if it clicks on). That is not the reason it was hard starting before, though. So now, I get to check the pump tomorrow in the daylight get it running, then figure out what the other issue was.

 

Check fuse 14 in the underdash fusebox for latest problem.
other problem, we really need the code...

 

couldn't get ride to parts store today, so I guess I have to wait 'til tomorrow to work on it.

 

okie dokie. The little hose on the fuel pump had come off after brick hitting gas tank. I actually think it was already loose because acceleration was sluggish and now it's awesome (for 130hp). I also pulled a Code 41. Checked oxygen sensor and it failed one of three tests.
