Default Skunk2 Intake vs. Stock

I was wondering what everone thought about the difference in the skunk2 intake manifold vs. the stock unit. I was reading on honda-tech.com about this and was just wondering.

They say that all you have to do is gut the stock intake unit and it'll be just as good as the skunk2. Is this true? How can this be done? Are there any pics out there of that? How easy would it be..

Please help.

i had a b16 w/ skunk2 type R manifold i only noticed on the dyno about 8 hp. i did not notice any "seat of the pants" type deal. i have done alot of ghetto home ports on some honda and acuras, and have noticed slightly less gains, call extrude hone or bullfrog.

jason, do you hve a skunk2 intake manifold on your gsr motor?

if you don't thats the first mod i'd do in making that motor run better.

as has been said before, the dual intake runners are super restrictive up top.

no, not worth doing. the shitty dual intake design will remain the same.

I have one, it was a bitch to install on my b16 powered CRX. No seat of the pants gains, but it has yet to be tuned. I'll give you a full report after some decent cams are installed.

I'll give you two perspectives. After the 24-hour install (many stupid ass complications, I thought I felt noticable gains. It felt a lot stronger than stock.

However

According to John, you won't see any real gains until you match it with some cams and tuning.

wanna bet ?!

ill find a graph for ya !

EDIT: got it http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=275681

as you can see "up top" they are exactly the same ! the GSr is quite superior in mid range this isnt just fluke because the car is turbo, look at the fastest all motor honda to date guess what manifold they run...give up ? GSR!

KEY WORD:Useable HP
