Crower Issues
Crower has had a rocky past with VTEC cams.
Especially with www.crowersucks.com (I don't know the full story behind this, if anyone knows EXACTLY what happend please enlighten me.)
I have spoken to both David and Brian Crower about thier past expierences with VTEC and Honda cams in general. They have BOTH assured me thier cams are completly redesigned and not regrinds anymore (aparently they used to be?). They also both assured me, that if I were to have _any_ problems or dislikes about the cams, to return them to him and he will replace them.
He also stated that people before hand have been abusing the cams IE taking them to insane RPM's and expecting them to hold out. He said one kid took his to over 12K RPM and snaped the cam in two. Destroying most of his head. He did not of course, warranty that one.
My cam (stage 2 turbo) is said to be stable to 8500RPM, and _not_ to take it over such as problems can occur. This is perfectly fine with me. Im glad I asked and he explained this to me before I install my p28/hondata.
If you have any concerns about Crower, just email them( Brian@crower.com ), Brian usually takes a couple days to answer. Altho he _always_ has answered me back, even before I spend $1400 with them.

most of the morons who fuck they crower shit up is cuz they not using the proper springs/retainers.
use CROWER AND CROWER ONLY, if u plan on using CROWER cams
ppl get fucked up spring rates and the cams cant handle it.

If you use Crower stuff, absolutely do not use there valve springs, that is my opinion.
Any aftermarket valve train should be of a higher quality than stock, or why bother using it? if it can't handle 9k rpm's it's not worth it in my book, especially for all motor setup's.
The people that I know PERSONALLY that have had Crower products fail have all used the full Crower set up, valve springs, and titanium retainers. one had crower cams the other had ctr cams. The one with crower cams snapped a cam into 4 pieces at 9k rpms, the other had a TITANIUM retainer shatter!!! causing the valve to drop into the chamber and totally fuck a motor that only had 17k miles on it, and he wasn't even driving hard when it happened, the crower stuff had only been in for like a month!
My personal thoughts that some others that have been around imports for a while agree with, the Crower valve springs are just too stiff, causing undue stress on the cams and retainers.

I know someone in Virginia who had a cam break on him. Crower would not return phone calls or emails, and simply said "It's your problem, we're sorry your motor blew up" and that was the end... the would not replace anything, not even the broken cam, nor talk to him beyond that... i've heard other stories of people being treated like this at Crower, but this I know first hand.. GOOD LUCK!

I had a full crower valvetrain - the cams, I was only using CTR cams. I was cruising on Alt 19 just after washing my car and was at no more than 4K RPM. A titainium retainer failed and dropped a valve into my motor. I am STILL building my motor. My head was fuxored. My block needed resleeving. All I got was a new bare head and some pistons. They included a new crower valvetrain, but why would I run that?
This of course was after Brian told me that it was "My problem." Then I bought www.crowersucks.com and all of a sudden Brian decided to help me a little so that I would merely leave it blank, which I have done. You dont have the option to buy that domain though, if you get fuxored.
Brian stated that changes were made to the retainer so that my issue would not take place again, but I have my doubts.
If you want a good and PROVEN valvetrain, go Skunk2, Ferra, or Portflow. I would not trust anything from Crower. But do what you will, that's the mistake I made after hearing bad news prior to buying all my stuff....

Hopefully I will not share the same fate as you guys.... Your stories worry me though. If they break, and I have to deal with the same shit you guys did. I'll not only be taking a trip to thier main office to speak with Brian and David... I will also deal with thier servers in a most apropriate way.

This is only in Tampa. I know of 2 different cases in Orlando and who knows how many in Florida.
