Default Good d16 turbo combinations? what can it handle??

Alright guys doing a little-big project and would like a few pointers...

been doing honda's for a little while, done the B-series but dont know much about the single wammmer! just want to do something different, i plan on boosting it, but really wanting to know the limits of what the motor can handle on the stock sleeves, and would it be better to use a block guard or no?

Plan on using a 57 trim(to hold good power but not too much lag), forged rods, vitara pistons(saw a bunch use them with no problem ), acl main and rod bearing, arp rod bolts, also plan on building the head with a different valve train still undecided and have no idea what stg cam to go with, heard all motor work just as good if not better thena turbo cam?

my question is if built right how much boost can u throw at it till it will be the "limit" hoping for somewhere around mid 300's with this application just something different.... again this will be my first single cam so any prior experience or tips im looking for

any input would be awesome as usual and appreciated.

Yeah bro, go with the Bisimoto valve train, i've herd that they last and are strong. My buddy had a block guard and block posted it (A bit over kill I would say) and was able to get 28 lbs. of boost only for the track and had 15 lbs. for the street. The engine is still running today. He built it 2 years ago. Now he used all Honda bearings. And I think the last time he went to the dyno he was pushing somewhere around 322 whp.

I wouldn't even bother building the motor. Stock D series platforms have proven themselves to hit your power goal. If something goes wrong they're cheap to replace.

Get a strong, healthy motor. Good clutch, fuel, and tuning .Bingo Bango

My .02 - and I've done the vitara build

Yeah but if he does that and if it is his daily driver then he might as well spend the money for it to last.

If you fully build it you can easy get 28 lbs of boost.

With a set of rods and pistons the d series motor can max out a 57 trim. In my experience a 57 trim T3/T4 is only good for about 22-24psi.

Well yeah depending on the turbo but I was just saying in general that's how much you can put out as long as the motor is fully built.
