thats a good way to do it. also there should be a white dash on the crank pulley and a pointer on the lower timing cover.

my prob is that the cover is not on the car anymore....thats how i got the car, so i dont really have a reference for the crank pully

and make sure when you rotate the crank......turn it counter clockwise.....
