I have a 99 Honda civic ex with 190,000. I'm looking for some ideas to do with my car. It's slower then molasses right so I definatly need a change. Like should I do an engine swap or turbo or build. Feedback would be awesome thank you.

I usually am for boosting a stock d series, but with 190k it might not be the best choice unless your motor is in tip top shape.
For 3k you can swap in a LS and be pretty close on boosting it.

 

When you say close to turbo what exactly do you mean?

 

Buy smart, not when you find something you need.

Figure 1k to swap in the LS.

That leaves you 2k to start parting together everything. For 2k you can have all the parts needed, save maybe engine management and a tune.

 

If you boost your car you will be fixing it more than if you do just a swap. You can also spend the money you saved on other stuff like suspension etc.

 

What's the Hp of the LS?

 

Not much more than your d16y8, but it has more easier accessed potential.

 

And more torque around 140 HP though
