Sleeved h22 question

Default Sleeved h22 question

Ok so I got my block back from the machine shop the sleeves stick out about .002 they said its supposed to seat or settle when the engine warms up and Im supposed to torque the head down again. Has anyone ever heard of this process?

Is it the whole sleeve or a rounde copper ring grooved in?I'm not to sure h22 not really any good but I know b and kseries I have don't sleeved never have cause when u get them back they should be deck flat already

It is called a step deck and it works really well. The step is not supposed to sink at all though. Golden eagle and I believe ERL do this to their blocks, Benson does not. It is always a good idea to go back and re-torque the head studs on any motor with step deck or o-rings after a 1000 miles or so.

Is a special headgasket needed for this type of sleeveing?

I always used oem gaskets that were bored to whatever the motor was at. Golden eagle sells OEM gaskets at whatever bore you want.
