I never broke a screwdriver but I wedge it in there differently than you say. I stick it between the teeth of the wheel. I only use namebrand screwdrivers though on it like a crapsman.

lol cause im a cheap ass and usually work in a shop with air tools and don't need tools like this...and i did that home made one on like a sunday at night and we couldnt find the right tool anywhere so i was forced to make something happen....then just kinda used it a couple more times. it works great for under 2 bucks

but of course i get the 1 in a million shot of a civic crank pulley thats all round and doesnt have a hex cutout in it...so, no im trying to find a way to keep the motor from turning lol thing just get better and better....but i bet the pulley is bent from the last guy sticking something through the holes to get the bolt off and warped the pulley or some shit...

heres a pic of what mine looks like (if anyone on here has never seen one before)

im not messing with photo bucket again so i just found this one on google....its time to get creative with this one guys...lol fuck i hate doing side jobs without high psi air tools and lifts....driveway work sucks....lol

this guy got creative with it for sure... (but his pulley is off and mine isnt so i cant say shit! )

still working on getting the fucker off and this car has 3 ribs bro. its got power steering,ac and alt....

i know, i know, weird shit. but it is what it is....just took the starter out and grabbing my pry bars and about to go at it...i was trying to avoid doing it this way but have no choice. i'll let you know how it goes...if photo bucket wasnt all fucked up i would upload the pics to show you...

:edit:if i didnt see it with my own eyes, normally, i would agree with you because thats mostly what i see these style pulleys on, is the vx models. but its got all 3 and no damn hex...but im hoping someone tried to jam something into one of the holes to get the bolt off and bent the pulley. normally i wouldnt hope for a bent pulley lol but in this case that would be a lot better than another reason why its wobbling like a shipped crankshaft or fucked up crank end so either way im replacing it with a hex style pulley. but honda crank pulley's have rubber "seals" that can go bad and cause it to wobble. thats why your never "supposed" to use a torch or heat to get the bolt loose cause you can or will damage them. but im hoping to get lucky because since this bolt has been loose (and it looks to be recent) it should be a little bit easier to get off than one thats been on for 100,000 miles or more. but, my luck someone fucking hammered it on with a 1000 ft lb impact or some shit lol....the way shits going i wouldnt be suprised...

but i didnt realize how late it was..ive been slacking all night. it WILL be off tomorrow for sure if i dont have any luck in the next few mins or so. dont want to piss the neighbors off beating on shit at 1 am

yeah for sure bro, i know which way you were talking about. i was just telling you how i did mine since my flywheel has big enough holes to fit an extension in.

but im about to do it your way right now actually. just got the starter out and about to wedge some shit in there. got a whole drawer full of craftsman screwdrivers ready to go! but im going to try and wedge a prybar first right in the teeth like you were saying. i tried to get it from underneath but i just cant get a good pry point for some reason. (fucking automatics!)

yeah after i get done with all this shit and clean up a little im just going to sign up for another one of those sites so i can upload my anger and tears for everyone to enjoy!

but i just realized this thread went from a simple wobbling pulley to just getting the fucking thing off! lol but enough with the talk, getting back to work! trying to stay on topic here and figure out this fucking shake....just bought the car so i also have a list of other shit to do too. this was just the most important right now because if the cranks fucked or some shit then i got bigger problems than installing a stereo lol. its for baby momma and the kids so gotta make sure its safe ya know. wish i could be working on my teg but this comes first.....

thanks guys for the input!

a couple pics for "tampa's slow eg6" and possibly others that might have thought the vx models without the hex style crank pulley only had 2 ribs. which i thought the same thing until i seen it today. but i finally got some uploaded for you bro! and now i can share my pain and blood tomorrow when i get done and actually figure out the REAL fucking problem and the reason i started this damn thread in the first place

:edit: also, if anyone has any ideas on where this pulley might have come off of? maybe it came stock on some d15b7's? im sure we got some serious single cammers in here that would know lol. no real reason, just my own curiousity and trying to learn a little background on this car because in 2 days after buying i have found so much ghetto shit. its all free shit to fix too. like they hooked the horn to a push button....but the list is so long and this isnt the time or place....but any help would be cool. thanks guys.

ok well i figured the problem out...without even totally removing the pulley! but after this im gonna start ripping out al the acc. belts and see how bad the crank is damaged...my buddy has 3 single cam longblocks so im not as mad as i normally would be. just didnt feel like doing an engine today damnit! lol

but this was so good, i had to share my pain and missery with everyone!
this is what i see so far

1.)theres a slight gap between the center pulley hole and the crank end.
2.)the end of the crank looks chipped pretty bad but idk how deep yet.
3.)no,i didnt remove the key because there wasnt one in it when i took the bolt off
4.)it looks like the wrong pulley all together, like a b series pulley or something, or it just wore either the crank shaft end down or the inside of the pulley to create that type of gap.
this is exactly what it looked like after taking the bolt off....just funny how stupid people can be sometimes. its not fucking science to put a pulley with a key on and tighten a damn bolt...i mean seriously...but i figured i would share for now and its back to work so i can get it off and see how bad the damage really is.

enjoy!

heres how i took the bolt out, still trying to figure out why you would need an extra washer...

but ill be back in a few fellas after everythings off and share some more of my pain with everyone! lol

i dont like to admit it, but in the past when customers didnt or couldnt afford an engine, i would just line it up with a new key, pulley, timing belt, water pump and tensioner and then just weld it up so it cant move...but i cant weld it with this pulley because it doesnt fit over the crank ncie and snug like its supposed to. but if a new one will....i might end up throwing a bead or 2 on there for now.

:side not: none of the ones i welded ever came back for any problems either, in case anyone was wondering. yes, i know its ghetto, but if your broke and need a ride...it will work for sure. plus you can always just grind the welds down. i dont run full beads around it and seam weld the fucking thing. just enough to hold it nice and tight..
