Maybe you guys who are saying "do it yourself" are assuming a few things we dont know. What is the current piston to wall clearence. Is the bore ovaled or tapered? If you take it to a machine shop they can inspect the block first to see if it only needs a hone. I would hate to rebuild a block and have it use oil or poor compression just to save a few extra bucks.

I guess I just take more time in doing motors perfect, this is not something you want to learn, cause if wrong then u have to take the whole thing apart again..a hone.boreing machine is the ONLY way to get the walls the way they need to be...it crazy I always see some of these people who posted here always say don't cheap out on thing yet they r telling him its ok to do this..I'm sorry I guess its just my 2cents..altho I would love to see a self honed block have perfect. Mirror finish with perfect crossing

generally speaking, i try to do stuff myself to actually learn something. you feel great for being able to achieve that you thought you couldnt do before. You can tell people you did it, not someone else. you should have pride in your work and build. you dont like the end resualt, try again and thats with anything in life!

i was asking why the builder can't do it or doesn't know who to take it too?
I wouldn't trust them to build my engine lol

kj said practice on a crappy block if not then have someone do it not big deal

^your semi right tho I mean yes building the motor yourself is a great feeling..but machine work should be done by a machine..I mean hell you would not try to resurface your head with a dremal or belt sander would you?but guess again that's just me
