rack problem?

well i found out why the wheel is pitching the tie bar (that steers the car) on the right is bent at the joint that connects the inner and outter and it looks like the left might be slightly bent. Question is how can you find out if the rack is still in good shape without having to remove it? This is a $500 piece so if I dont need it (tie bars are only $80 a side for the inner and outter) im not buying it
