not sure how youd go about bypassing the mechanical speed sensor but I know MSD makes a ton of RPM activated switches. Check em out at www.carparts.com

A mugen chipped pr3 bypasses the vss. My vss snapped and the ecu did not throw a code and vtec is still currently working to this day. I know of a couple of people that could do it for you. Specs on the ecu: 10000rpm rev limit(can be lowered) 4400 vtec x-over optimized fuel and timing curves. Cost would be about $150.
