ok i was planing on just find an already swaped civic witha B16 in it and and building that then i read some thing that B16's are over rated and it cheaper to just build up a D16 with a turbo, cam, pistons, etc. to achive around 250 hp. but honestly this is the whole thing i've been posting on here over and over about all these car and engine combos. the thing i want out if it is to beat my friend who has a SRT-4 and he is only puttin out like 230 horse.

I think it would depend on how much your lookin to spend on a build. If you do it right you could easily make 250+ on a single cam.. but of course a B series is gonna put out more power overall. This being said, parts for a B series are generally more expensive than parts for a D16. Also Vtec or non Vtec will play a role, and tuning will be the overall detremental factor in how your motor performs. Just my .02

well my plan is b16 vtec, edelbrock turbo kit, 2.5 in exhaust (right off the bat) then later possibly cams, pistons

well... I can tell you now that you will end up wasting money on your car if you just pick up a b16, swap it in and boost it. Later on, if not sooner, you will encounter problems boosting a motor that may have 100,xxx+ miles or however many miles whatever I would still just build that bi*** before you boost it then sure get your exhaust or whatever and run low boost till you beef up your internals.. I think maybe 10-15 lbs on a stock LS is straight but then again I donno cuz I know more about turboed DSMs then I do turbo hondas.. just cuz my last car was a GST and I have yet to turbo my coupe.. Lol either way if you have a decent motor in the car already then just ride that bi*** till the wheels fall off and while youre drivin that around gettin from point A to point B makin your money build the motor and do it right. Then once you do have it done and you boost it you will get ALOT more life out of it then if you just boost a swapped motor.

yea rebuild is the way to go before boost - i have had 100k plus motors boosted last only 1 month or 2 before something internally gives

here is a full build thread on LS/Vtec.. although this isnt what you will be doing, this give a lot of great information when it comes to building a reliable motor.

How to build a "reliable" lsvtec/b20vtec - Honda-Tech

Now.. like I said before.. it depends on what kinda money you feel like spending on your car. Once income tax gets here.. this will be my next project. =]

** EDIT **
You dont need a new block or anything like that unless there is damage to the block, (i.e. cracks, holes, ect.) just clean it and make it all nice and shiney. lol the best thing to use is brakleen (?sp) get it at advanced.. its brake parts cleaner but that shit works wonders.. just srpay it on.. let it sit a few minutes to work into the crud and shit then spray some more and whallaaahhh all clean.
