Yes, that we do know. But, you can make well over 300whp with a built SOHC if you want to. Alpha just tuned conservatively.

A Sohc will get plenty over 300 AND will make torque. They have a longer stroke (90mm vs 77) and the same disp. It will make more torque down low. Dont under estimate the sohc.
Also if your looking for 250whp a set of vitara pistons and forged rods will do that for less than 500 bucks. Id like to see you build the internals of a b16 for that. Straight From FJT you can get a complete rebuild kit including all the seals and belts water pump pistons, rings etc, and then rods for a total of 589. HA!

With that plus a cam some head work and an IM your ready for 350.

your talking about a boosted d16 with vitara pistons and rods will make 250 right? not just the pistons and rods? also thx for making me feel better about my choice on SOHC lol

Why? You can do that with a BONE STOCK b16, no need to build it. Also, to make that on the SOHC I bet you have to run a high amount of boost as well, but I have personally seen over 300whp on 9lbs of boost without problems on a conservative tune on a bone stock b16 w/ ebay kit.

DOHC>SOHC all dayyyyyyyyy

I dont see why this is still discussed. Im sure everyone has there preference, but be realistic. You will make more power off a DOHC then you will a SOHC. Id say, buy an b18a1 or b1. 9:2:1 compression and can handle some boost. all you need is Rod Bolts and Head Studs and your good to go. .02
