b20/VTEC is very good when you get it tuned after its done but the sleeves are weak, LS/VTEC is really good too they have strong sleeves great for boost,

youve got to be kidding me. how bout this....my ls vtec has been making 180 whp all motor on stock gsr cams for over a year now. it sees redline (8400 rpm) at least once or twice a day, and gets 34mpg. regular oil changes with a good tune and quality ignition components helps with longevity. as long as its all assembled and tuned the right way you wont have a problem with it. make sure u use arp rod bolts and dont cut corners during the assembly. IMHO there is no replacement for displacement. youll be happier with the 2.0l over the 1.8l bc of the tq when daily drivin. if u are only gonna spray a 50 shot the stock 84mm sleeves will hold up fine. esp since i doubt youll be spraying all the time driving 100 miles a day. hell there is a stock sleeve b20vtec on boost makin over 500+ whp. so if the sleeves are weak you would think they would crack on that build right? youll be fine with the 2.0l on a small shot if its all assembled, broken in, and tuned right. and just so u know...they both take the same amount of oil as any normal ls, b20, gsr, or b16. end rant.

100 mile-a-day daily driver and you want to spray it? Leave the power adders out of your daily transportation. It just isn't part of a long-term reliability strategy.

I would go with the b20, I have built many of lsvtec and crvtec, both are great engines! They are the same engine except the b20 has 84mm bore over the b18 81mm bore! I had a b20vtec in an 93 hatch with je pistons eagle rods and sprayed 150 direct port on it for over a year! That was 2 years ago and now a friend has that engine in an ek! Still runs great! Go with the b20! As for parts I would get a teg type r oil pump and you have to use a vtec water pump! Golden eagle makes a vtec conversion kit for dowel placment and oil supply for vtec! A lil more power out of this unit! Also I would go with the b16 head but make sure u use a headgasket thats made for the b20 vtec setup!
Thanks,
Carter
