ok that tells me where it is, but i need instruction on how to take it off.. thank you for the pic rangcrx that help to locate it but i have to take my camshaft off how do i do that?? how do i get to the seal and put it back together please.. thanks

 

you have to undo the timing belt then undo the 12mm bolt that holds the timing gear on the timing gear has a small lockblock on it DONT LOSE it the gear will wiggle right off then the seal will wiggle right off also..i did the picture do you can see the gear pulls right off then the seal. YOU DONT NEED TO TAKE THE CAM SHIFT OUT

 

really? ok cuz the guy that change my water pump told me that i needed to take off the camshaft assembly lift that and then i could get to the cam seal.. and i have seen tutorials of how to get the cam seal off in a b series and you have to take off the cam shaft to get to the seal...

 

rangcrx thanks for all the help ill send you some rep i found the seal its true its on the outside behind the cam gear the guy that did my water pump, change my cam gear for a aftermarket and i guess did not set the cam seal correctly i put my finger to it and it feels out of place in the bottom of it can i just push it into place without having to take off the cam gear or do you recommend replacing it anyways?? thanks...

 

depends on how old it is, alot of cam seals I have seen are so old and brittle once they are moved they never seal like they used to. you can always try to puch it back in but I doubt it will move if everything is torqued down. everytime I do cam seals I always take the cam out and work the new cam seal carefully down the camshaft untill it is positioned back in place, but of course this is on a DSM. if you can put the new seal on by just taking the cam gear off then go for it but from what I could imagine it would be hard to push the new seal in place because it is supposed the be very snug.

 

well on a sohc it is all one cam holder it can be but if you want you can remove it all,the bseries has to parts thats why,the nonvtec bseries is lucky cause it has all individual holders so only one needs to be remove to get the cam seal off... but from what is said above on a honda the cam seal is not to snug or it will be come oval and leak it pretty much just sits there so it can be worked out pretty easy

 

man i push it into place and now my car wont start at all! i put everything back together i reset the computer i don't see why it wont start.. would the problem be that i forgot that the valve cover was off and the spark plug wires where off and by mistake i hit the key and the starter spun and crank the engine while the valve cover was off? i would think not but what do you guys think?? to me the seal fell back in good, but i cant get the engine to start to see if it leaks... thank you guys for your responces and help...

 

are the wires back in each fireing order correct?

 

yep they are correct double checked and the ground to the valve cover is there and tight what could it be?? it was starting just fine and the starter is cranking the engine good and smell like fuel so i have fuel..
