Grinds when shifts into reverse

Exclamation Grinds when shifts into reverse

it is a manual tranny for eg
this happened before i swapped the tranny and
happens to the newer tranny too
it grinds when i shift into the reverse gear...
but there is no grinds from first to fifth...
and i always shift into the reverse gear
when car is standing still....
anyone knows why ?

clutch is not fully separating from the flywheel? maybe bad master cylinder? not enough pressure in lines? pressure plate failing? weird occurrence since reverse has no syncro.

not sure about the master cylinder.but its got a new slave cylinder
and pressure plate..i have no clue yet...until maybe tear it apart and see...

put it in second gear then reverse, problem fixed

+1, I have been doing this for the past 5-6 years between 2 different cars. putting it in 2nd first will help line up the reverse gear better.

ya deff. ive been doing that.. putting it into first or second and then putting it into reverse.. works like a charm.

My reverse does that too. The second then reverse trick works once in a while, but sometimes it will still grind even if I go into second gear first.

When its in neutral let go of the clutch then put it in second and reverse see if that helps

yeah i do the first to reverse, have been for many years on many different cars. second to first works just as well.
