LS/Vtec Build
That's a pile of links that don't tell you anything about what you are trying to do.
Here's the reality, knowing its a big cam, your tuner is going to ask you how much valve clearance you have so he can determine how much he can tune the cams. Are you going to tell him you saw some guys on Honda-Tech who said they were great cams?
He's going to shoot you the "WTF" look and again ask you, as the guy who assembled the motor, exactly what your setup allows him in the way of cam tuning latitude. If you can't tell him, and if he agrees to proceed, it would likely be with the understanding that he may find out exactly how much latitude he has when your engine grenades.
You can't answer a serious question posed by your tuner by giving him links to a bunch of posts where the only thing certain is that forum users there know how to make thumbs up and thumbs down avatars?
I will personally pack my tools and help you degree your cams and clay your engine, if you like. Just message me. I am very curious and the information will be valuable to me for future builds. I cannot, will not install a cam with extreme lift and duration based on incomplete or completely uninformed information. Neither should you. It's not professional. It's not smart.

Great. Now you're talking. But the machine shop will need the bottom end, too, along with an old head gasket of the same thickness you plan to use.
Let us know what numbers they come up with. As I stated, the forum posts you linked to were worthless. Not a single number was provided regarding clearances or cam timing tolerances. Your machine shop can give you those answers. Good luck with it.

Dont be hatin
New information
All piston ring gaps were all in spec except for the second piston ring on cylinders 3 and 4 they were both .028" which is the service limit I think I'm just going to run it like that, I just dont have the money to have the block bored and then have to buy new pistons and rings, and I dont want to buy another block and take a chance that it will be better and then have to pay to have it honed.
I don't know... Whats your take on this people?

whoa! whoa!
Are you also saying you are determining if your cylinders are of proper size by measuring the ring gap? I asked before about how you finish honed. Reason was those cylinders looked very rough.
Gotta love a guy trying to do his own work, but if you don't know what your piston/wall clearances are and you are going by ring gap, you are flying by the seat of your pants. Kind of what I was trying to say about being sure on your cams. Your motor has needs. They are real needs.
Before you assemble a time bomb, let us know how you have sized your bores. How you measured your bores, etc. Also, how are you determining bearing clearances, etc.

I didnt hone the block, the guy I bought it from did. The cylinders had a little surface rust so he did a quick hone before I picked it up, and I never thought about measuring the bore diameter on it since it was running before. The reason he sold it was because it spun a bearing, and before you ask I already got a new crank and rods.
I'm gonna measure bearing clearances with plastigauge
I know theres gonna be a lot of things I can't measure because I dont have all the tools to measure EVERYTHING but I'm working with what I got and what I can do.
Now that I think about it I'm on the market for a new block... damnit

) tomorrow possibly, this one should be ok becuase it was a complete shortblock, It's just dirty as hell
