Overheating problem...advice?
Well, I found a slightly better deal, $650 for the HG, and only $50 more for a Valve job. At least it's a little better, I might wind up going for that one. And I can't find a shop that'll do a leakdown test today
. Guess I have to wait until Monday to really find out anything. Times like these are the times I wished I lived over there in Tampa.

Are you using any coolant?
Has the level changed at all since the waterpump replacement?
Keep searching around. Im sure you can find a little better price...

So, how is it that it's now a blown headgasket that is keeping water from circulating into the cooling system?...after replacing all the other stuff......
sounds like a mis-diagnosis.......
Inquiring minds want to know. It's Unfortunate that the people you took it to didn't check for that, early on.
My heart goes out to you, man. Looks like you took the long way around, to find the problem. What has it cost you so far?-Bob

Well acutually the water pump did need replacing because it wasn't circulating. Now that I replaced the Water Pump it now circulates and I can at least drive the car. And yea I seem to be losing coolant slowly, it's a brand new radiator cap so it's not that. Tomorrow I'm getting a leakdown test done. I wish I could find a better price but so far all the places I'm calling wants to charge an arm and a leg. So far $550 is the best I found :/
get a helms book and do it yourself, its really not that hard, all u need is some basic hand tools and a good torque wrench...even if it takes u 2 days to do it u will save $400-$600 and gain expierence on your motor
I'd love to do it my self for the experience, but the bad part about it is I need this car because I use it for work (pizza delivery) and to get to school and I don't have another car to use. So i'd need it done as soon as possible. And being that it would be my first time doing something like this, it could take me even longer if I happen to run into any problems.
Eh, I've decided to try and do it myself. I could really use the $500 I would wind up spending for Christmas anyways. Hopefully I won't run into any problems along the way. I'll update when I'm done, whether that's a day, 3 days, or a week lol. Thanks for all the advice guys.
Well I'm starting on it today, just to make sure, what all do I need? I got all the basic stuff, and a torque wrench. Also, how much should I be paying for the head gasket set? At autozone it was $165 and I wasn't sure about that, and I can't imagine it being anymore cheaper getting the factory stuff at the dealer. Or should I just shell out the money and get it from the dealer?
