LS Vtec build
ok..for one stop with ur smart ass mouth..im arguin the fact that ls/vtec would still be a VERY reasonable way to go..its not goin to be unreliable..and its goin to produce a lot of hp...and its going to be a lot cheaper then a gsr/itr..if he goes the safest route on either motor..if he just wants a stock motor and boost..then yea go with gsr/itr...but if he plans to have a longer lasting motor..then a cheaper rebuilt ls bottom end and vtec head would be best imo..and rebuilt doesnt mean he doesnt have to use oem parts..as long as he uses a set of arp rod bolts..the motor shouldnt fail any sooner then any other motor..and id like to see a dyno of a gsr and ls/vtec with same comp ratio and turbo at the same psi..to see which is honestly better?...

ok we can do that GSR turbo VS LSVTEC turbo Same PSI Ill run a much larger CFM turbo on the GSR cause it will be able to hold it VS the LS VTEC, for reliability ease of build and less headache a GSR turbo will out perform a LSVTEC turbo all day long ! Why waste the time and effort to make an LS VTEC when you can get a GSR for the same price youd spend after all the upgrades for the LS ? The only reason i told hinm not to is for Money and experience which he probably lacks both of. Nopt many guys on here know how to build a reliable engine, thast why you see 90% of the look atr my LSVTEC thread ending in well it blew up today or I have a nasty rod knock. Go reread what i wrote and comprehend this time.
i have a turbo ls vtec and its fast as hell it was a good choice i run turbo ls and turbo gsr'z all day but i also spent alot of money and had experience and did it the right way it also took tym so i don no what to tell u i like the turbo gsr also but i dont think i went rong its just about personal likes and what ur going to use it for.....
thats true...i think it depends more on what this guy already has..if u have an ls block and a vtec head...go for it..if u need an entire swap..gsr would prolly b easiest/safest for u..i have ls/vtec all motor..but i started with a b16 swap already in my car..got a b18 bottom end complete for a subwoofer i paid like 100bucks for..and just honed it out polished crank used the rods..the jdmb16a pistons i had in my motor..purchased arp rod bolts..new bearings rings etc..and it was pretty cheap..(if the first guy who built it..knew what he was doing and did it correctly..but it blew up after 150 miles..go somewhere reputable..to have ur motor built..2nrwerks rebuilt my motor and its running really strong..)

See this is what LS VTEC spawned from .. Good example. You used what ya had to make some power no going out and buying ARP this Weisco that and bla bla bla in the end what youd pay for a strong reliable LS VTEC to Boost you could just buy a nice ass GSR for... But then again you had the engine built by a shop, again good example 150miles and boom... Not bashing you just using you as an example of my previous statements.
So i Stand by my previous statements... But yours is a very good example of what im talking about.
i understand exactly where ur comin from no doubt..buildin an ls/vtec with oem parts and turbo is very reasonable..just add the arp rod bolts if u want to turn over 7k rpms..thats all i added and with a better builder(2nrwerks)..i have a strong motor..i just wish i would of used lower comp pistons to turbo no...i was just sayin that an ls/vtec would be very reasonable..depending on what u have lyin around..but..if u need a whole swap..then i agree a gsr would be best to go with..or even an ls if ur really on a budget..and if u plan do rebuild the entire motor..then a vtec block would be ur best choice ie gsr/itr
thanks everyone, i didnt mean to start a dispute in this thread, but anyways, I WOULD have gone GSR-T because I know its right around the same amount of money typically spent on building a reliable LS Vtec, but I do already have the bottom end (obviously), and I have a b16 head already and the GE Vtec conversion kit, and vtec solenoid on the way. so, im still not sure if i am going to boost it or not because i keep getting miced feedback... but thanks everyone for the input.
