Just realized should have asked an important question. Are you running a vtec head on the ls block. Sort of assumed you were since you are talking about ctr pistons but guess that should be cleared up first.
The ctr have large domes and pockets for the bigger valves of the vtec heads. Wrong piston for a stock LS head.

so those pistons wont work? or should i get new valves? or that wont matter either, so ctr pistons wont work with an ls head... then what kind of pisotns should i get...with out spending 500 dollars on them

Let me ammend that to say I have heard of people that put p30s in a stock LS, which would be similar to a ctr piston, but just saying it isn't a piston optimized for that application. If you are going to the trouble of spending money and tearing it down, and you already stated you are willing to put in forged rods, shop for forged high comp pistons for LS motors.
Frankly, though, I can't see throwing that money at just the pistons and rods if you are not building this motor up otherwise. If you need a new rod or to rebuild the one that spun a bearing, do it and put everything back together. If you want to bump compression, have the head shaved and or go to a thinner head gasket and enjoy a bit of an HP gain from whatever compression you gain.
