Default Separating a 3 ply ls head gasket

anyone taken the middle ply out of an ls head gasket and had a problem with it sealing. i dont think it would be a problem but you never know

I have heard of it being done MANY times. I would say tin snips and you should be good.

on a used?i think i would only MAYBE try this if the block is clean and decked and the head is surfaced with a new gasket.............but wait Why are you wanting to do this?if your looking for comepression then im guessing your head is off get a nice set of gsr pistons or B16 thay are cheap

i was just looking to add a little extra to my ls/vtec...i have the head off changing my valve seals so i was thinking of removing the middle ply.

Yeah works fine done it alot. I'd highly recommend copper spraying the gasket.
