Separating a 3 ply ls head gasket
i myself would not worry about it at all it will not give you any extra power or change anything but safty in the long run thats just dumb

one thing you havent said, is if you plan on using a new headgasket. don't resue the old once once the head's been off.

Yes, I re-used mine since December of last year. No problems at all. Then again, knock on wood

I've asked a few well known engine builders and also said the same thing, "its been done before".
Plus, at the time I swapped out heads, I wanna to tried it to believe it. It wasn't stipudity but curiousity. Same goes with re-using OEM headbolts.
There's alot of stuff I've done on my engine to proved if it works. Plus, I don't care. If the shit breaks, I know personally its my fault and fix it right frist time.
There's alot of stuff out there that I don't ever see people post about it either.

i know it can be done, but someone who builds engines vs. someone who is asking a basic headgasket question... better safe than sorry.
plus, i know a few people that reused gaskets, one went for a few months... the rest didnt last the day.

we reused the head gasket on my motor....still running strong after 9,000-10,000 miles....on spray! oh and reused the stock head bolts
