well seriously this is how i warm up all my cars... when you are driving you cut the warm up time down like you wouldnt believe...

on a stock motor such as yours its not really gonna make as huge of difference how warm the car is compared to a built motor(within reason of course). is more the oil temp you should be concerned about instead of the coolant but unfortunately a factory honda does not come equipped with one. although coolant and oil temp are realted they are not the same by any means. when the motor is not warmed up all the way youll see slightly higher oil pressure which isnt bad unless the car is ice cold and youre seeing 120+psi of oil pressure. when the motor is cold, the oil is thicker, thicker oil will have a harder time lubricating tighter clearance areas, which is ok at lower rpms but at higher rpms where the extra lubrication is needed its not the best idea to go there. the only bad thing thatll happen if your coolant is below 160F is vtec will not work.
now if your talking about a boosted motor with forged internals, the warm up period is lot more critical because the internals need time to expand, high rpms on a cold forged internal motor can cause cylinder and piston damage if done repeatedly. and also the extra oil pressure going to the turbo on a cold start isnt good for the seals if your start pushing it and hitting full boost.

mine takes a while to warm up sometimes too, and my needle usually only goes to 1/4 - 1/3 of the way up....depends on the weather...if its hot outside, it doesnt take as long....but if its a cool night and im driving home from work (7miles), sometimes my car hasnt reached normal op temp by the time ive gotten home....i know my thermostat works cuz ive bleed my coolant before and seen it cycle, so i just havent worried about it.
