Default Engine Warmup Time

Ok, I doubt this is a big deal but it bothers the hell out of me. My engine (b16a3) takes about 10 mintues to warm up, which seems like forever. However my friend, who also has a sol, has a type r swap in his and his engine warms up within 1 or 2 minutes. Does the 200-300 cubic centimeters really make that much of a difference on warm up time? Or is there something wrong with my car as to where it would not warm up quickly enough.

This really bothers me since I can't, nor would I want to, hit vtec on a cold block. I'm stock besides an intake and that obviously does nothing to this equation. My buddies b18 is stock. I considered just installing a remote start, but the warm up still takes way to long.

Anyway, the real question is:

What are your average warm up times?
and
if times are lower than mine what do you think the problem is, if any?

if you get a remote start, you have to cut the clutch cable :/....dont know if you wanna do that......warm up time=5 minutes

lol you forget that i am god of alarms... you just need to wire up a simple relay to bypass the clutch only when the car remote starts....

the way it works is this.... the car has a button under the clutch telling it when it is pressed down, you cut and tap the no current side and just tap the 12volt side, wire up the relay correctly and you will still have to press the clutch in when you normally start it, but under remote start it does it for you.
it "presses" the button for you, electronicly.

lol....it is more simple to just say that anything can be done. Almost everything is controlled by relays, most are just small and handle smaller voltages

EDIT: after thinking about it I think you use two relays... now I can't remember, but I'm studying for financial accounting now so I'll diagram it out later

the best way to warm up an engine is put a light load on it (drive the car, but don't redline, shift early). really. it's better for it and it will warm up faster. you'll get better overall gas mileage, too.

it sounds like you could have a thermostat that is stuck open, causing the coolant to circulate before the engine is up to operating temp.

that is what I do, it warms it up quicker. but I was under the impression that it was bad to even drive the car while it was cold, of course I don't drive it rough, at least till it is at its operating temp.

As for the thermostat that is a negative, mine went out a few months ago due to staying shut, that wax can only last so many years :\ so the thermostat is brand new, and besides that before the new thermostat I had the same wait time on the engine warm up. So nothing has changed. When i first bought the car it took much longer than 10 min, but i found out that was because the guy sold me the car with almost no oil.... thank god I didn't blow it I love honda engines.

EDIT: really my main concern is i don't want to have problems when it is boosted, because I don't know how hard the turbo is pushing it when it firsts starts. I guess if i stay under 3k i should be fine till it's warmed up.

my old integra took forever to warm up. then one day the thermo stuck closed, got a new thermo and it warmed up much quicker. my CRX presently takes forever to warm up @ idle, but if i drive it it warms up quite quickly. (the needle won't move during the several minutes of idling it takes to get off of the USF campus when i go to work, but once i hit fowler it's fully warmed up by the time i get to nebraska).
