THE street tire VS SLICK debate thread...
as the saga continues and the world turns, i see a debate evolving and would like to know which do you prefer........SLICKS....or STREET TIRES (to include all forms)
now i know i personally like the way slicks hook and the ruling out of LOSS of traction but i have seen a new side to running street tires, in the sence of it being a "real street car" and running it the way you would drive it around town and lay smack down that way as well, having used some nice DR's i would say for me it is a love hate relationship............
feel free to talk amongst yourselves

after using your slicks and being able to launch at 5500-6000 rpm w/ little spin and NO wheel hop im offically in love. the next thing im buying is a set of slicks. after bolting up the slicks i felt i could do no wrong. running my 555r's was a different story.not enough rpm- bad wheel hop ,to much rpm and i spun to much. i thought after installing my traction bars my wheel hop issue would be gone. So mike you want to sell the slicks?

I preffer street tires b/c they are more "real world".
Then again running street tires at the track at 18 psi isnt really "real world"......
If I had a trailer I am sure I would try out slicks just for the hell of it.

I love slicks. I get put back into the seat twice as much when i'm on slicks. If i could fit street tires big enought then maybe i wouls like drag radials. My goal is to get 275/50/15's Mickey Thompson DR's and see what kind of times i can run on those. They =26x10x15.
Why is this a thread? Slicks for track street tires for the street!!

I personally love my new BFGs although, I think I need to step up to something bigger sometime soon... I just have to learn to love the DR's over slicks, as the class I am running in next season is strictly for street tires... I might get a set of slicks soon just to try them out, But I think I can get some good times on DRs

No, actually it isnt... Some classes only allow DOT legal street tires (drag radials) and there are some classes for slicks only...
Some cars dont make enough power to spin slicks, so they use drag radials, some cars make just enough power, to use either or and not really make a big difference... My car for example, has plenty of power to run on slicks, but also lacks just enough, that I can still cut some pretty decent times on drag radials, without breaking as much shit... Then you have some cars, that just make gobs of power, that cant efficiently put it to the ground on a radial tire... that is where the slick comes into play, and from there, its all about sizing...
