takes too long for the rpms to drop in a race situation, but around town i usually just use the clutch to leave a light, after that just pull it out of gear and lightly pull it into the next gear till it just kinda slides right in...it doesnt do anything bad, the reason it slides in without the clutch is cause the engine speed and tranny speed is matched, meaning the synchros dont need to work as much/at all

please elaborate on this...what happened?

im not saying throw all your weight into putting it in the next gear, it's as simple as gently holding it in the position and once the rpms match it just falls right in.
