right now the only part that is off is the upper half of the plastic cover, so all i see i the bottom of the gears and about 2 inches of belt. this is only because it didn't come with the motor.

doesn't swapping covers alot eat through the valve cover gasket quickly.

I am thinking I will need to tune it when I swap to an obd1 dizzy, also I have never done it the jackass that did the instal probably never did either, its not running bad I just don't know where its at as far as timing.

I wouldn't cut the hole thing off that covers the cams just about an 1/8 inch off the end, just enough to remove the facing so that I can see all of the gear but still keep the cover over the width of the timing belt.

i have a nice uncut ITR cover on now and an extra black cut cover for tuning but cut only so the gears are accessible and the belt is not exposed in any way.

I dont take my car off roading enough to worry about rocks or debris inside the timing belt cover....

What are the odds of something bouncing up off the road from under your engine bay, and getting enough vertical acceleration to get anywhere near the valve cover anyway???
