Default CRX 5-spd./auto....

My g/f has an 88 CRX SI it is a 5spd., only problem is she cant drive a 5spd. very well.....she loves the car, just cant drive it, how hard is it to make it into an automatic? not worried about the cost or the difficulty, but how could this be done and what all would we need to do so...?¿?¿ any info will be greatly appreciated....

Thanx, Troy

well saddly it is a little hard to change a 5speed to a automatic just do the the shifter it will be alot of cutting and drillout.all the chassis still have all the stops for the whole just honda filled them in,then you will need a auto ecu,you will have to rewire something to make your shifter work with the park signal, you will need to get 2 automatic trannsmission mounts......talk to 40ozCasualty his doing a auto to 5speed maybe you can buy everything he takes off

oh well to do it yourself it will take awhile longer then changeing a auto to 5 you will have to take out your consol when you do you will see the spot where you will need to grind or torch it out just make sure you remove all the shifter and Ex pipeing first

I would trade ECU's with you, but I have a PM5, and your girlfriends car is MPFI, which means you need a PM6 ECU, I don't know if Honda made an auto PM6. If you want to come down here and pick up all the auto stuff within the next few days, I can show you all the holes and everything that you need to know. Another thing I'm concered about is the auto tranny has an accelerator cable from the t-body aswell, I don't know if this can be hooked up to the MPFI t-body. I'm not sure, but you may have to convert to DPFI aswell.
