Both motors are built by honda so you can't go wrong either way.

I can't speak much for the b18 but I have a b16 in an 88 crx and I love it, it'll run low 14's ( better than and stock gt) and do 0-60 in about 5 seconds, and I didn't pay 3k plus for the engine either. the stock hp and tq differences can be overcome by tuning and a few bolt ons, but you'd be best to boost it ( whatever you get ).

as a daily driver keep in mind fuel economy ( don't laugh ) cause at almost $2 per gallon for the 93 oct. economy should be on your pro's and con's list for each motor. I don't know about the b18's economy but my jdm b16 with a few bolt ons, driving pedal to the floor from stop light to stop light, compression braking, basically everything you not supposed to do to save fuel, and I get 28 mpg in city. what does a b18 do? ( seriously, no sarcasm)

what do you want though, all motor then I would say the b18 you start bigger and have more room to bore it bigger, if your boosting then either but the for the price of the b18 you could get the b16 and get more than half of the stuff needed to boost it.

like I said before though either engine is great, especially since its not a domestic.

driving frankie's b16b after we installed it for the previous owner of the vehicle, did not impress me. My OEM ls motor pulled on it.

If I purchased or owned a b16b I would also purchase a b16b spoon or toda stroker kit & do a fresh 1.8L rebuild to it

Hey Kender, thanks for your information, pretty good. I heard that, those motor needs high octane gasoline, that's mess up, with the gas prices going up. But, for the love of racing, thats fine. I like the b16, this is why I'm looking for details between the c5 and the b16. Hey, Vito--What is up, with your attitudes???

Not really.. A b16b swap costs $3300.
A spoon stroker kit costs $1200
Add $500 for misc new seals & machine work & walah you have a brand new b16b stroked to 1.8L
$5k total cost....

I dont know about you but I would rather own a stroked & refreshed b16b over a b18c5 that is more then likely in need of a rebuild regardless of what motor distributor you purchase it from....

b18c5 complete change over 98+ spec is about $4500-5k

wow, got to love the helpful tech on here!

My opinion, if you can get either for the best price, it won't matter . If you go with a B16B, go with a shorter FD, i.e. 4.7 or 4.9. FD help

I help put a '92 EG that ran 13.7s in a B16B with a ATS 4.9 FD and a good selection of parts, funny thing, its not tune yet.

You think F1 cars have big motors...........gearing will make up for the torque.

To each is own. I personally preffer a 1.8L r/s ratio.

Yeah you can rev the living poop out of a b16b, but I just dont like the way the motor feels. Especially after driving a 1.8L every day then trying to romp on a 1.6L and feel satisfied.

Btw, bert, take that same b16b and stroke it to 1.8L lets see the 13.7 eg drop to a low 13 sec eg untuned
