Can you explain to me the reason why an extra cam is better than having one do the same job? The only reason is the ability to tune overlap with an adjustable cam gear, which is not worth the price of a swap. Yes, the ports in a B series can flow more than a stock D series, but the FACT is most people with B swaps aren't even CLOSE to making the amount of power a D series head can flow.

Car already has D16Y8 engine in it.

B16 Swap= Avg price of $2500

Alternate route:
Used Zex nitrous kit $300
Walbro 255lph $80
Run a 75 shot and I guarantee it will make 75wtq and 30whp more than the B16 you would've paid $2500 for. You can keep going round and round with this argument, but since you are already out the money for the swap it will be more expensive than modding your SOHC.
+1
took the words right out of my mouth. that was the exact same reason to keep it sohc in my 91 hatch

Only cause a bunch of people jumped on a bandwagon and didn't bother with a D Series.

This is a good arguement. I mean it seems like the sohc can produce the power with the right stuff. Yea the B series can too but its the price of the B series that sets you back, im with Ryan on this one... -Ben

i think it's just a " what i have is better and always will be" instead of it being what matters. i honestly think that a d series that has power is awesome b/c it's more rare that someone actually wants to put the time and money into it to out perform the b series. i'm all for the dohc if course but it's nice to see a fast sohc........just my .2

No...because not very many people have d-series that make enough power to run a 12 sec pass and when they do it breaks before they can get it to the track

A D series is no more likely to break when done PROPERLY, than a B series.

Why are you such an ass spoonfed? This is the second time I had to tell you how to spell SOHC. I happy to see that others are a little more open minded than you around here. Even if they are a fan of the DOHC like littlehatch, they understand the potential and cost benefit of the D.

You still down for that race? Nothing would please me more than to kick your ass with my D16.
