Well here's their chance to prove everyone wrong. So B20 owners how many of you have cracked sleeves?

this topic has been covered a couple of times. The b20b is a horrible base to start on for FI or high revving NA.Im not saying they blow up all the time, but if you are building a high output b series, your money is better spent getting a resleeved ls block or start with b18c, whitch have shown to withstand alot of punishment. The b20b, imo, is nothing special, it is basically an ls with 84mm bore with weaker sleeves. i know your question was towards vapor, but its also very broad...

what kind of hp you have in mind? whats your budget?

You asked and vapor told you to sleeve it. He is right. It might not crack but why not do it right? It would suck to spend the money on building the motor then to crack a sleeve. I made that mistake myself. You might think you want to only push a certain amount of power untill you get it built and then when you try for that extra 10 whp your sleeve cracks. Like john said if you want to save a little and have a strong block without sleeving it then go with an LS. I know marlin sprays his B20 and has over 200whp. That doesnt mean one of his sleeves wont crack. If i had sleeved my motor i would have another 150+whp without changing anything. Some people are lucky to see 150whp by itself. If you are going FI there is no question what you should do.

Ive already Built a B18C 450hp been there done that. I was asking about the durability of the B20 Stock VS Built performance and strengths. I wanted it broad because i wanted alot of input. I wanna see what a stock B20 and VTEC head will do. Ive got some dyno sheets of 240+whp B20VTECs stock components. I dont mind breaking parts they are easy to come by. I dunno if i wanna go with a Bad ass balls to the walls B18 or a mild B20 VTEC, I wanna just toss a B20VTEC together with a low PSI FI system, just to see its limits. Basic daily driver Over the D16Z6 in the EX the teg is almost undriveable at that amount of power its hard enough to keep it moving and not roasting the tires at the top of the gears, Im just looking for a basic setup daily driven with some nice adequte power in a light platorm.

yeah i know I just wanted Stock VS Built VS FI i mean how good is that block ? Its good i guess Stock for Stock it puts out nice power. Reliability is yet to be seen... Ive built a B18C with FI it puts about 450 down and its not really all that driveable. The teg basicly runs through the gears roasts tires and sounds mean as hell But its not something id wanna Drive to work everday unless i was driving down I4 about 50-60 miles each way then itd be fun In traffic the Cropression is so low and it doesn see boostill about 2g+ its not a fun daily driver and when you reach the top of a gear say by by to traction. I dont want that. I want a basic good adequte daily driver with a lil more than 200WHP, in th ranges of 250-275whp which is nice for a civic, itd be knocking on LS1's doors ! I wanted tpo leave it broad to see what kinda input everyone had on the B20 itself and i asked John because i remembered him saying he was building or was building a B20.
