Default What do you all think....

I want to start a new interesting project. I think I'm going to sell my crx when I get it running so I'll have some money to start this.

At my shop we have an all motor drag crx coming out so I don't want to build another one. That is why I'm thinking of selling my crx (not the drag one).

We have a 92 hatch shell that is straight but due to a very weird insurance deal it can no longer be titled in Florida. So it is a race car.

My two plans are:

All motor k20 swap and eventual build but just the swap first to get it running. I'm confident I could pull it off and even make the mounts if I had to.

SR20DET swap out of a Blue bird or gti-r. The blue bird swap is pretty cheap and it would definitely be a little different and challenging. My main concern is with finding an axle setup or having to get custom ones. I think given enough time I could even wire in the stock ecu but if not I'll just run a Haltech. Again I'd just try to get the stock motor in and running and then progress to upgrades.

So what do you guys think? I'm leaning to try and build the bastard Honda/Nissan and besides we might already be putting a k20 into another one of our cars anyways. So do you think it will be worth it or am I going to end up wasting my time?

if you can pull it off it would be one for the books. but why ruin a honda with a non-honda motor??? j/k

i agree the k series is going to cost a lot of money, and considering ZMR is the swap parts shop would there be a lot of opps to do that to obtain what you need?

how much do you think you could get for the rex?

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Nah no mitsu motors. I want the SR motor too. I looked at one the other day in a sentra and I know I can get it in there and mounted well. Not 100% sure if I can get the axle angles I want but I won't be able to tell till I get the motor hanging in the ngine bay. Does anyone know someone who has a blown sr20de motor, it can be the NA one.

As for the crx. After the slight sheet metal damage is fixed it will be looking alright and running 12's. It has good suspension on it so I dunno how much I'll get. hopefully enough to buy a $1500 sr20det motor, an ser tranny and some money for the raw materials to buld the mounts and such.
