for overall performance it's better to run a longer deration cam and raise the vtec point.

i couldnt agree with you more, my friend says that by lowering the vtec on a sohc to 4400rpms, that he gained 16hp i told him he was full of shit.... i am talking about a completely stock internaled motor with stock cams B or D seies, with basic bolt ons I/H/E. does anyone have any proof sources? dyno sheets? i lowered my vtec on my supercharged B16 and it gave me a nasty bump in hp which turned out to be lower than with it set to factory, even with tuning, i just moved it back up....

16hp but at what RPM?

are we talkin about Peak Power?

raising or lowering the vtec point will not gain you anything in "peak" power

how ever it will make engagement into vtec smoother

lowering vtec to 4200-4500 will create this HP hump at that RPM range and the power will then drop off

when people lower the vtec and claim it feels faster its because they feel that hump and then it slows down then it picks back up thus "it feeels faster"

16 hp on a stock motor? No

3-5hp maybe but then it will lose 6-7
