ls reving to 8?
can this hurt? i mean my ls motor pulls awsome but it doesnt pull long enough. when i shift at 7 it feels like it could use a few more rpm in the begining gears. can i make it rev to 8 with the compression that i have. 11:4:1. and if its ok how much would this run me?

The only way to tell is on a dyno, however, that bottom end (stock LS rods and R/S) I wouldn't really take up that high too many times. It's just not made for it.
Put her on a dyno and see where it stops making power, you can get a baseline done faily cheap.
Im estimating your power stops somewhere around 6800-7200. Just a guess however, I don't know your entire setup.
Get it on a DYNO.

1991 ls motor. my block is FRESHLY rebuilt. i just hot 5700 miles on it. oversized jdm type r pistons, 2 layer head gasket, ummmm the head is stock internals. with 98 ls cams that are more aggressive and give a little more umph. im using a stock ecu that hits 7 grand. i feel great power from a dead stop to redline . as the same in 2nd 3rd and 4th. as if it want more rpm. i have a jdm b16 s1 tranny. gearing is awsome in there. i figure if i can get this bad boy to red line at 8 it would run a bit faster and put furure bolt on's to it max potential

the ls heads arent meant to rev that high. the bottom end will be fine to go to 7800-8000rpm. but the free floating rockers werent really designed to handle that high of rpms. ive seena lot of people over rev their ls heads and somehow the valve clearances will open up causing the head to make some nasty noises and they just gotta limp it home and do an adjustment.

how did you achieve and diterman this ratio?
